Ashantay (or however you say it): Epitome of Mediocrity
So I'm on the Myspace today (as everyday) and I'm immediately bombarded with an ad for that new movie starring the semi-hispanic looking white guy that played the pool boy or something on that show about the Housewives (that I never watch because it appeals to the masses and I happen to know for a fact that the masses are stupid), that comes on ABC every Sunday. I remember that guy from an episode of Punk'd and I can't really remembered what his punking was because I was so fixated on the fact that it looks like he gets his eyebrows arched- and that just annoyed the hot mess outta me because that altogether transcends John Matthews type metrosexuality , and moves closer to that fine line between 'having people wonder' and 'sticking a rainbow on the bumper of your Miata'.
But I digress. This isn't about him (Whatever his name is), this is about one of his unfortunate co-stars:
The one in the middle. Yeah, y'all know who that is. I hesitate saying too much about her because she is my boss's girlfriend, but no one ever reads my stuff so- whatever.
What I first need to know is who told Ashanti she could act. I bravely pressed on to the myspace page featuring this potential debacle of a film and was treated to a rather lame trailer to what is no doubt a rather lame movie. What caught my attention though (other than the fact that I think this movie has been made before... only slightly better) was Ashanti's... well, ACTING is what I guess I should call it, but I only do so in not being able to articulate what it was she was actually doing.
Where exactly did she come from?
Her singing (such as it is) is- meh...
Her looks, alright (Although I will say she looks pretty good in this movie- a whole 7 steps up from the last time I saw her in person. Looked like homegirl had just found out about Krispy Kreme not long before).
Her acting- barely Nickelodeon worthy. You have to actually watch the trailor to see what I'm talking about. All around, I'd have to say this girl is the epitome of mediocrity. She's gotta be the daughter of an extremely influential power player in the Biz because I can rattle of 12 people that I know IN PERSON that can do everything she does way better.
I think they just needed a black girl. Gabrielle Union wasn't available because she's busy filming a movie called "Daddy's Little Girl", Naomie Harris is tied up with "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" and Zoe Saldana has since moved on from this type of thing. Who's the next available choice? Apparently is was Ashanti.
I don't hate her, don't get me wrong. My BROTHER hates her. My mom does too, although I'm not completely sure why- other than she plain sucks. My brother's disliked her from day the first. He peeped her lamness very early on and never jumped on that bandwagon of lauding her as Murder Inc's hot new thang. My mom- I think she just felt like siding with my brother.
Anyway... enough about this. Judging from the sulty cloud of marijuana seeping through my vents, my neighbours must be home. I'm gonna go ahead and hang this up and move on to more productive things- like Myspace.
